The series of matches for the quarter-finals of the 2018-2019 Champions League season has ended, four teams are confirmed to qualify for the semifinals.
After facing a fierce battle in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, four teams managed to advance to the semifinals of the 2018-2019 Champions League.
The four teams are Barcelona, Ajax Amsterdam, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
Barcelona managed to qualify after beating Manchester United in two legs, which were held at Old Trafford Stadium, Thursday (11/4/2019) and Camp Nou Stadium, Wednesday (17/4/2019).
The Blaugrana progressed 4-0 on aggregate, with one first leg goal coming through Luke Shaw’s own goal and three goals from the second leg via Lionel Messi and Philippe Coutinho braces.
Barcelona will face Liverpool, who managed to beat the representatives of Portugal, FC Porto with a convincing 6-1 aggregate.
Meanwhile, from the other two matches, the Dutch champions, Ajax Amsterdam, surprisingly managed to beat champions Juventus with a thin aggregate 3-2.
Two Juventus goals in two legs which were bought by Cristiano Ronaldo, were successfully surpassed by Ajax with their young squad.
De Gondenzonen will also face one of the teams who also managed to make a surprise in the Champions League this season, namely Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side made it through to the semi-finals dramatically with an away goal aggressiveness advantage from Manchester City.
Despite losing 4-3 in the second leg which was held at the Etihad Stadium, Thursday (18/4/2019), The Lilywhites still had the right to qualify because they won without conceding in the first leg.
In the first leg match which will be held on Tuesday, April 30 2019, local time, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur will both act as hosts.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Ajax Amsterdam will have their turn to host their respective opponents in the second leg of the semifinals the following week, 7 May 2019.
